Victim identified in fatal Burnett Co. crash

A crash Saturday afternoon left one man dead and two people hospitalized, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

GRANTSBURG, Wis. - The victim of a fatal two-car crash in Burnett County has been identified as a 49-year-old man from Siren, Wisconsin.

The accident occurred at approximately 3:40 p.m. on Saturday at the intersection of County Road Y and Crosstown Road near Grantsburg. According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), the 49-year-old male driver was traveling northbound on County Road Y when a 17-year-old driver and 16-year-old passenger failed to comply with a stop sign and crashed into the male driver's vehicle.

The 49-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene. WisDOT has identified him as James Walter Carlstrom, 49, from Siren.

The two teens were transported to Burnett County Hospital. They have been identified as 17-year-old Olivia Brock, the driver, and 16-year-old Justen Peltier, both from Grantsburg. None of their injuries are life-threatening.
