OSSEO, Minn. — Crooks don't stop what they're doing just because it's cold.
Osseo police are reminding residents via Twitter to remove items of value from their vehicles and lock them up after an uptick of thefts from vehicles.
Police Chief Shane Mikkelson says two people have been arrested and are facing charges in up to four thefts from vehicles, and other metro departments like Maplewood PD have also noted an increase in this 'quality of life' crime.
Mikkelson says that while numbers of vehicle thefts are more prevalent during warm weather months, people are also more vigilant in locking up and removing valuables. He says this isn't a major crisis, but insists crooks don't take the winter off.. and neither should you.
