COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, Minn.- A 35-year-old man was injured after he was hit by a Metro Transit bus in Columbia Heights. According to Metro Transit the accident happened just after 10 p.m. Tuesday night on Central Avenue between 45th and 46th Avenue.
A Metro Transit spokesman says the victim was not in the crosswalk when he was hit. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with what are being called non-life threatening injuries. A passenger on the bus at the time of the accident was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries after the collision.
Video from the scene shows a shattered windshield on the bus and glass spread out over the roadway.
The bus driver was not hurt. Metro Transit says that driver will undergo a drug and alcohol test which is standard procedure following an accident.
There were less than a dozen passengers aboard the bus at the time of the incident.
The Anoka County Sherrif's office is leading the investigation.
