MINNETONKA, Minn. — DFLer Kelly Morrison has won the race for Minnesota’s 3rd Congressional District seat, according to the Associated Press.
The seat was up for grabs after Rep. Dean Phillips decided not to run for reelection as he pursued the presidency earlier this year. Totals from the Minnesota Secretary of State's Office show Morrison won 58.43% (240,208 votes) to Jude's 41.45% (170,426 votes).
Morrison is an OB-GYN doctor and former Minnesota State Senator. Jude is a retired Minnesota District Court judge who previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives.
The 3rd Congressional District represents the western portion of Hennepin County, as well as part of Anoka County.
