ST PAUL, Minn. — Minnesota's reputation precedes itself when it comes to voter turnout, and if early voting totals are any indication of how this year's general election numbers will come together, it appears the state could again be among the nation's leaders.
According to Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon's Office, 337,633 ballots have been accepted out of 716,858 absentee ballots distributed. While Simon's office added this year's totals are outpacing those in 2016, they still fall short of 2020's general election pace, which showed record early voter turnout during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’re more than halfway through voting season in Minnesota and now is the time to make a plan to vote,” said Simon, adding that Minnesotans can vote by mail, early in person, and in person on Election Day.
Although the online voter registration deadline has passed, Minnesotans can still register day of at their respective polling places. You can also track the status of your registration by going to the agency's website.
The SOS' Office said voters can call 877-600-VOTE (8683) with any voting-related questions on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
