PLYMOUTH, Minn. — Minnesota will be guaranteed to have one new face in the halls of Congress next year, with a competitive race for the vacant U.S. House seat in District 3.
Longtime former Republican state legislator, former county commissioner and retired judge Tad Jude is running against doctor and current DFL state senator Kelly Morrison in the 3rd District race, which encompasses a large portion of Hennepin County outside of Minneapolis, as well as a portion of Anoka County.
The candidates are looking to take over the seat held by DFL Rep. Dean Phillips, who announced he would step down from Congress earlier this year during his brief run for president.
