LA CROSSE, Wis. — Former President Donald Trump has scheduled his first campaign appearance in Wisconsin since accepting the GOP nomination at last month's Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
According to the Trump campaign, the former president will hold a town hall event at the La Crosse Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin on Thursday, Aug. 29.
Wisconsin continues to be a battleground focus for both Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris. The vice president campaigned in Eau Claire in early August shortly after naming Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate. Republican vice presidential nominee Sen. J.D. Vance also made an appearance in Eau Claire at the same time. Harris and Walz then campaigned at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee-- the same location as the RNC-- for a campaign event this week as the Democratic National Convention was taking place in Chicago.
Wisconsin has proven to be a critical battleground state in recent presidential elections; Trump narrowly won the state in 2016 by less than one percent of the vote over Democrat Hillary Clinton. Four years later, Joe Biden defeated Trump in Wisconsin by a similarly narrow margin.
