SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Minnesota State Senate Assistant Majority Leader Karin Housley announced Tuesday that she would not be making another attempt at a U.S. senate seat in 2020.

She will, however, attempt to seek another term as a Minnesota state senator representing Forest Lake, Stillwater, and the St. Croix Valley.

Housley had previously ran unsuccessfully in the 2018 Midterm Elections to take the U.S. senate seat vacated by former U.S. Senator Al Franken - in which she ended up losing to current U.S. Senator Tina Smith.

Housley cites her decision not to re-seek a U.S. senate seat as an opportunity to spend more time serving her local community, and spending more time with family.
