President Biden to visit Wisconsin Friday

After a White House meeting with Tim Walz and other Democratic governors over his candidacy, the president will resume his re-election push in earnest.

MADISON, Wis. — Apparently energized by renewed commitment to his campaign by a group of influential Democratic governors, President Joe Biden is hitting the road for a stop in Wisconsin Friday.

Biden is getting out on the campaign trail just two days after Wednesday's White House meeting with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and a handful of influential Democratic governors with concerns about the viability of his candidacy after the president's underwhelming performance in the debate with opponent Donald Trump.

Walz emerged from the meeting and spoke with reporters, voicing renewed support for the president.

"None of us are denying Thursday was a bad performance. It was a bad hit, if you will on that," Walz said. "But it doesn't impact what I believe — he is delivering."

"He has had our backs through COVID, through all of the recovery, through all of the things that have happened," Walz continued. "The governors have his back."

While some news outlets have reported that Biden was considering stepping aside for a younger, more viable candidate, inside sources said the president was adamant in a call with staffers that he will seek a second term, no ifs, ands or buts, according to the Associated Press

“No one is pushing me out,” President Biden was quoted by AP  during the call. “I’m not leaving. I’m in this race to the end and we’re going to win.”
