EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — Democrats living in Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District have decided who they want to have go up against incumbent Derrick Van Orden in November.

Rebecca Cooke was declared the winner by the Associated Press Tuesday. She was running against fellow Democrats Katrina Shankland and Eric Wilson.

Cooke's priorities include healing the healthcare system, creating an economy built for working families, and fighting for farmers, her campaign website states.

During the campaign, Cooke was criticized by opponents for using “dark money,” WPR reported.

The 3rd Congressional District covers central and south-western Wisconsin, including Pierce, Pepin, Buffalo, and Dunn counties.

The district has been represented by Republican Derrick Van Orden since 2022.

In Wisconsin’s 7th Congressional District, Kyle Kilbourn defeated Elsa Rae Duranceau on the Democratic ticket. Kilbourn will take on incumbent Republican Tom Tiffany in November.

The 7th Congressional District covers northern and western Wisconsin, including St. Croix, Polk, Barron, and Burnett counties.
