MINNESOTA CITY, Minn. — KARE 11 tried to speak to as many residents in as many places as possible to talk to them about how they're feeling ahead of the presidential debate.
About half of the voters we spoke with said the debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and Former President Donald Trump will make or break their vote.
The first stop was Brooklyn Park. Faith Barbington lives there and says she will be voting for the candidate that will tackle racial inequality.
"I just think the quality of life for everybody is really important despite, race, gender, whatever you make for a living," said Barbington.
Adassa Grant lives in Crystal and says her mind is made up. She's voting for Harris.
"She knows about immigrants and their families and what we immigrants are here for," said Grant. "We are not here to take no rights of nobody. We're just here to make ourself better."
Grant immigrated to the United States, and said she feels the Democrat Party provides for the working class.
While Grant believes the debate won't make or break her opinion, all three people KARE talked with in Coon Rapids said they don't like either candidate.
"I've been just looking for, you know, truth," said Raul Rojas. "Straightforward, honest, people."
Rojas said he doesn't fully trust Harris and her remarks. But he thinks that Donald Trump is 'like an idiot.'
"He just seems, like he can't really be controlled," he said.
Rojas considers himself in the middle of the political spectrum. Josh Pince of Coon Rapids would consider himself in the same place.
Pince is in the Air Force Reserves and says he may be starting a family soon.
"Wars are erupting around the world," said Pince. "I'm a young man, and I'm thinking about starting a family maybe soon. What is it looking like having a family with all these crimes going on?"
Jimmy Brudvig, an Andover resident, said he mostly has been trying to avoid politics.
"I'm not too excited about the candidates," he said. "I'll probably watch the debate, but I really haven't made up my mind yet. I hope that it's civil, and I hope that it's about issues and not about personalities."
The next stop was Ham Lake, where we found Kimberly Huro.
"I'm definitely a Trump fan," she said. "A lot of my family and my friends are."
Huro said she is especially concerned about inflation, and believes Trump and his time in office proved he will be better for working families.
"It's just been inflation, inflation, inflation," she said.
Samantha Schram said the economy is important to her as well. She also brings up that immigration is especially important to her too.
"We need to close the borders," said Schram. "That is what we need to do. We need to have people that are coming being vetted."
Whether your mind is made up or not, Minnesotans say a lot is on the line.
