BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. — A walker happened upon human bones in a wooded area in Brooklyn Center, according to police.
Officers were called to an area near 60th Avenue N and Vincent Avenue on Saturday, Jan. 12 at about 12:30 p.m.
A wallet was lying on the ground near the bones. An ID card was found by authorities inside the wallet.
The name on the ID card matched the name of a reported missing person.
The person was reported missing from Minneapolis.
The police cannot confirm that the bones belonged to the same person who owned the ID card.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner is still testing evidence to confirm the identity of the bones. No cause or time of death is known.
The police and medical examiner do not believe there is suspicious activity related to the bones.
The Brooklyn Center Police Department, the Hennepin County Crime Lab and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner recovered the bones.
This investigation is still ongoing.
