BIG SKY, Mont. — According to CBS News, a man who was initially thought to be killed by a bear was actually killed in a brutal homicide in the Big Sky area in Montana.
According to CBS, authorities in Montana say a 911 caller found his friend's dead in a tent Saturday morning along Moose Creek Road near Big Sky, Montana. Thirty-five-year-old Dustin Kjersem's body was found in a tent at a makeshift campsite.
According to CBS, Kjersem's friend who called 911 told first responders that his death appeared to be a bear attack. However, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks said they found no signs of bear activity when they visited the site.
According to CBS, investigators later found evidence of a "vicious attack," which is being investigated as a homicide. CBS News reports that Kjersem sustained "multiple chop wounds," including to his skull, according to an autopsy.
No suspects have been identified as of yet.
