Rescheduled Bubble Run angers participants

Organizers of the Bubble Run, which makes stops in several U.S. cities, unexpectedly moved its June 11 date at Blaine’s National Sports Center to July 30. Participants are not pleased.

BLAINE, Minn. – Organizers of the Bubble Run, which makes stops in several U.S. cities, unexpectedly moved its June 11 date at Blaine’s National Sports Center to July 30.

On the Bubble Run's Facebook page, it posted it moved the event date to accommodate more people. But some participants are not happy – including the 135 people in the Facebook group called Bubble Run - We Want a Refund.

Blaine Mayor Tom Ryan believes the proper permits were not filed in time with the city to host the run on June 11.

Jill Hayley purchased tickets for her daughter and is now asking for a refund.

“I am upset about it,” Hayley says. “I’m also upset because the run date had already been changed when tickets for June 11 were still being sold.”

According to the Better Business Bureau, the company that owns the Bubble Run is Cool Events LLC. KARE 11 reached out to Cool Events owner William Spata, but a voicemail and another phone call went unreturned.

According to two separate posts on the Bubble Run - We Want a Refund group, at least two people were receiving refunds.

According to the Bubble Run’s Facebook page, 17,000 people had signed up for the event.
