GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — The short answer?
YES.
According to Road and Travel Magazine, preventative care like getting a car wash and a wax will help make sure your car keeps its resale value.
Plus, taking care of your car in general will always help you save on repairs in the long run.
Our cars are attacked by a ton of things during the winter, like road salt, acid rain, snow slush, mud and even tree sap.
Any one of these elements can eat away at your car's metal, chrome and paint.
Without washing these things off, corrosion will happen and rust can form under the carriage, in wheel wells and under the hood.

It may not be noticeable at first, but in time, your car will degrade.
So, go ahead and get the car washed. It's good for it's health and your wallet.
The next days that KARE 11 Meterologist Sven Sundgaard says would be good to get a car wash are Thursday, Friday and Monday. We should get a break from snow on these days.
And while we have you here, here's five small reminders about car care that could save you from a roadside disaster:
- Check your washer fluid and keep it full.
- Maintain proper tire pressure.
- Keep the gas tank at least half full.
- Keep your rear-window defroster working.
- Clean all debris from your vehicle.
