At Thalmann Seeds in Plato, Brian Thalmann looks out at his harvest corn now covered in snow.
"Pushed really hard and finished up on November 11th," said Thalmann.
He's thankful he avoided disaster after what's been a tough year.
"Pushed our spring planting back and everything just got delayed. All in all we still have a lot to be thankful for. We still harvested a respectable crop," said Thalmann.
Not everyone was as lucky.
"There are still fields left that are still standing," said Thalmann.
Les Anderson in Canon Falls is one of those farmers.
"Didn't quite make it," said Anderson.
By the time Tuesday night's storm came around, he still had 30 acres of corn still standing. He wasn't alone especially in southern Minnesota.
"We were about two to three weeks behind schedule and mother nature is about two to three weeks ahead of schedule," said Anderson.
"In order to properly harvest that corn, the snow has to come off of the crop," said Thalmann.
Despite how tough the year was, both Thalmann and Anderson say they're still thankful for what they do have.
The hope now is next year goes just a little bit better.
"There's not a farmer around who is not looking forward to wrapping up 2019 and turning the calendar to 2020," said Thalmann.
