ST. PAUL, Minn. - Super America (SA), the gas station-convenience store chain that started in St. Paul nearly 60 years ago, will soon be no more.
New owner Marathon Oil, which started the process of merging with Super America's parent company Andeavor in May, is beginning the process of rebranding stores from SA to Marathon's Speedway.
Forum News Service says there are about 170 Super America stores in Minnesota and Wisconsin, employing close to 2,000 people. Marathon also took over a petroleum processing plant in St, Paul Park as part of the merger.
Among the biggest concerns accompanying the switch is what will happen to points accumulated on Super America rewards cards. My SA Points can be transferred to a new Speedy Rewards account in a process posted on the Speedway website.
The company also says SuperAmerica gift cards will no longer be accepted. Those holding them are asked to call 1-800-428-4016 to have balances refunded.
