MINNEAPOLIS - Surly Brewing Co. is partnering with a local icon to create a treat for both beer lovers and concert goers, alike.
On Wednesday, the brewery announced plans to release a golden ale called +1, in collaboration with First Avenue.
"An old Minneapolis bus station. An abrasives factory in the ‘burbs. From these humble beginnings sprang the last great rock club in the country and one of America’s leading craft breweries. A collaboration just makes sense," the announcement states.
The new beer is described as having "subtle hop notes, low bitterness, and a refreshing malt profile," according to Surly's website.
A weekend full of events at First Avenue have been planned to celebrate the beer's release:
- Thursday, March 22: Sick of It All with Holding On @ 7th St Entry
- Friday, March 23: The Black Angels with Black Lips @ First Avenue Mainroom
- Saturday, March 24: The Last Revel with Chicago Farmer @ Turf Club
The website states +1 will be offered exclusively at First Avenue properties and The Depot from March 22 to April 1.
Surly will sell the +1 beer in 16 oz. four-packs starting the week of April 2.
