Two people were killed when a pickup truck hit a horse-drawn buggy on a County Road Sunday, according to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office.
The buggy was traveling north on County Road 9, north of Avon, when a Ford F150 struck it from behind and sent it into the ditch.
The sheriff's office says the crash happened at about 11:15 a.m., and several people stopped to help. The good samaritans performed CPR on the two critically injured victims until first responders arrived.
The victims, identified Monday as 72-year-old Robert Alois Keppers and 66-year-old Mary Joan Keppers of Avon, died at the scene and were transported to the medical examiner's office.The horse pulling the buggy was also badly injured and also died at the scene.
The driver of the truck is a 23-year-old man from Avon. No charges have yet been filed but the crash remains under investigation.
