WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump has singled out Minnesota on Twitter, again.
The president tweeted Tuesday morning that he "almost won Minnesota" in 2016.
"In 2020, because of America hating anti-Semite Rep. Omar, & the fact that Minnesota is having its best economic year ever, I will win the State!" he wrote.
Trump has been targeting U.S. Rep Ilhan Omar, of Minnesota, in a days-long back-and-forth that began when he said on Twitter that she and three other congresswomen of color should "go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested" countries they came from. All four - Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, Rashida Tlaib, and Omar - are citizens. All except for Omar were born in the U.S.
The controversy spread to the crowd at a Trump rally in North Carolina, which started chanting "send her back" when he referenced Omar and the other congresswomen.
When Omar was in Minneapolis last week, she told a cheering crowd at the airport, "When I said I was the president's nightmare, well, you're watching it now."
Trump addressed that phrase in his Tuesday tweet as well, saying, "'We are going to be a nightmare to the President,' she say. No, AOC Plus 3 are a Nightmare for America!"
This wasn't the first time in recent days the president has focused in on Minnesota on his Twitter account.
