MINNEAPOLIS — In just about three weeks the Twins will travel to the sunshine state for spring training and many fans will follow them.

"It certainly is our most anticipated spring training we've had in quite some time," team spokesman Matt Hodson says.

Normally, the weather down in Fort Myers Florida is reason enough for fans to make the trip, but this year there’s an extra incentive.

“You’re coming off 101 wins last season, the “Bomba Squad” was setting major league records for home runs and we’ve made some great moves this offseason too,” Hodson says.

And the biggest move this offseason was the Twins signing their biggest free agent deal in team history.

Pending a physical, the Twins will soon officially announce the signing of 3rd baseman Josh Donaldson.

“It’s one of those game-changing moves,” Hodson says. “You bring in a former American league MVP on top of this offense that is already scary good and it’s no surprise people are fired up about the Twins.”

And all this excitement is showing in their ticket sales.

“We had a pick-five plan that we set up and we actually had to pull it off the market because it basically sold out,” Hodson says.

However, you can still get single tickets to all 17 of the team's home games.

The team’s first spring training game is an exhibition match against the Gophers on February 21st.

“For a family of four you can get to a game for anywhere from $40 to a little over a hundred," Hodson says.

Add that to a plane ticket that costs between two and three hundred dollars and it's an affordable spring getaway.

"We also have a couple of half priced days on February 21st and March 23rd. There’s also Senior Days and other discounted days fans can take advantage of."

Regular season tickets are also available.

On Tuesday January 21st the Twins will unveil their new “Twins Pass” that will get fans into every home game for a flat fee of $45 a month.

That rate amounts to about $3 a game.

The deal is only available until February 12th.

After that the price goes up to $49 a month.

The “Twins Pass” gives fans access to the stadium, but it is standing room only.

Fans can use the pass to upgrade to a seat for an additional fee.

The pass doesn’t include the Home Opener.
