WABASHA, Minn. - Officials in Wabasha County have confirmed they found human remains along the Mississippi River in Wabasha, Minnesota, on Saturday.
According to reports, two boys were hiking near the Mississippi River and discovered the remains in a wooded area on the Minnesota side of the river.
One of the boys called the Wabasha County Sheriff's Department and reported finding articles of clothing, a torso and a leg with a boot.
The Wabasha County Sheriff's Department suspects that the remains may belong to David Sheridan, a Minnesota man who was reported missing in late April after his boat was found floating around Lake Pepin unmanned.
Reports say that the remains were found about four miles downriver from where Sheridan's boat was discovered. However, authorities have sent them to be properly tested at the regional medical examiner's office.
