A water alert has been issued in the city of Lake Elmo.
The city says that some residents have found brown water in their homes. To address the issue, the city has been "sporadically flushing hydrants" around Lake Elmo.
According to the public notice, the city will also take well number 1 and tower number 1 offline and "flush the system with a higher water pressure to help remedy this issue" at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28.
The city of Lake Elmo is asking residents to run cold water for approximately 10 minutes in the afternoon on the 28th, until the water clears.
The brown water is one of two issues the city is dealing with. The state has found PFC contamination affecting part of the city, which led officials to take a well and water tower offline on Wednesday.
Health officials say that contamination is not a cause for concern.
If people continue to see brown water, they are asked to contact public works at 651-747-3940. The city says people could also see slightly increased water pressure, but that should not be cause for concern.
