ST. PAUL, Minn. - WCCO's Angela Davis will be the new host of the 11 a.m. program on Minnesota Public Radio News.
The announcement came on Sunday. Davis will start as host in early November, according to MPR.
Nancy Cassutt, MPR's executive director of news and programming, said Davis will bring a new voice and fresh perspective.
"She understands this state, knows its most pressing issues, and will be a great fit in engaging with audiences on these important topics," she said in a press release issued Sunday.
The 11 a.m. show was previously hosted by Tom Weber. He was reassigned to a different role when he started a personal relationship with Peggy Flanagan, running mate of DFL candidate for governor Tim Walz.
Davis has been reporting and anchoring for more than 20 years. She said in the release that she is honored and excited to join MPR.
“Many of our communities in Minnesota are dealing with difficult problems at a time when lack of understanding is causing fear, anger and division," she said. "MPR News does an excellent job of sharing different viewpoints and creating a safe space for people to ask questions, voice opinions and learn. I’m looking forward to hosting a talk show that explores the issues that keep many of us awake at night, as well as topics that bring joy, laughter and hope."
