BOSTON - Boston is known as a tough-guy town, but even the most hardened Beantown resident would have to crack a smile if an elf ran up and challenged them to a pillow fight.
That's just what Boston firefighter Brendan Edwards was banking on when he channeled his inner Buddy the Elf, yelled "Son of a Nutcracker" and spent the week battling random people on the street.
"We just wanted to spread holiday cheer, really," Edwards said of his collaboration with photographer Brendan Sullivan.
The video shot by Sullivan shows Edwards walking up to strangers, tossing them a pillow and yelling "Pillow fight!" He engaged kids, college students, grandmothers and average Joes, with the only person declining the opportunity a municipal worker who probably didn't want to get caught on camera goofing off on the clock.
Perhaps the true Christmas Miracle? None of his Boston cohorts gave him a knuckle sandwich during the shooting of the video.
