WOODBURY, Minn. - An officer has suffered significant injuries after being hit by a tow truck overnight, according to the Woodbury Police Department.
The officer was off the road on the shoulder of northbound Interstate 494 at Tamarack Road when the tow truck rear-ended him, just before 2 a.m.
The officer was transported by ambulance to Regions Hospital and is being treated for significant injuries.
At this point, it is unclear what caused the tow truck driver to hit the squad car.
The initial investigation showed alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating.
