EAGAN, Minn. - Vikings fans will have a new place to remember and honor the history of the purple and gold.
On Wednesday, July 25, a new chapter begins in Minnesota Vikings history. With the kickoff of a new era for Training Camp, fans will also be able to look back at where the team has been -- with a brand new, interactive Vikings Museum.
The museum features tons of memorabilia, pieces of past stadiums, full shrines to historic team figures and more. Many of the pieces have never been seen before, some coming straight from players' personal collections, others scouted down by Vikings staffers on eBay and Craigslist.
Here's a few must-visit spots to check out inside the new space.
Frozen In Time
Vikings legends are honored at the start of the museum, with each showcased in their own "ice column." Here you'll see signed jerseys and personal memorabilia from Fran Tarkenton, Alan Page, Corey Stringer, Cris Carter and more. Head over to the interactive wall display where you'll be able to place your hand in their hand-printed football to kick off a tribute video of their career highlights, narrated by an influential person in their life.
The Met
Place yourself back in time with a visit to the Vikings first stadium. Sit in a pair of the original seats, admire the memorabilia collected from inside the stadium and see one of the original ticket turnstyles. Many fans will remember some of the buttons and pendants dedicated to the Vikings final season at Metropolitan Stadium.
Vikings Virtual Reality
Sure to be a hit with fans young and old, slip on a Vikings virtual reality headset to get a full, 360-degree experience of being on the field at U.S. Bank Stadium. Feel the moment when players rush on to the field from the tunnel and get an up-close, personal experience of the SKOL chant, right in front of the massive Vikings drum. Staff says the virtual reality experience will be updated throughout the season with new video from the latest games.
Minneapolis Miracle
Experience the greatest moment of last season over and over again. This interactive display allows fans to choose their view of the incredible play from last season's playoff run. Plus, you'll be able to relive the moment from the fans point-of-view -- yes, many of the videos that were shared by fans of their priceless reactions are edited together in a clip guaranteed to give you goosebumps all over again.
Game Balls
From rookie balls to the game balls bestowed upon players in pinnacle victories, a full wall in the museum honors these incredible Vikings moments. Each ball corresponds with a touchpad at the front of the display -- click on the ball and relive its history.
