MINNEAPOLIS — Maya Moore will be honored alongside fellow Women's Basketball Hall of Fame inductees on Friday. On Saturday, her jersey will be retired.
"She's the last of the five dynasty players to be lifted into the rafters on Saturday," said Carley Knox, president of business operations of the Lynx.
Fans can bid on signed, game-worn Heroine Edition jerseys representing some of the Lynx's greats.
Knox says this celebration is well-deserved, given that Moore has proven there's nothing she can't do.
"She's just a winner period," said Knox. "On and off the court, and whatever she puts her mind to, she's going to be successful at."
Dominating in the game, she used that influence to make the world a better place.
At the height of her career, she left the court to fight for justice for Jonathan Irons, wrongly accused and sentenced to 50 years in prison.
After his sentence was overturned, they married. And Moore's story continues to inspire.
"Obviously, the Minnesota Lynx were Caitlin's favorite team as she was growing up, and her favorite player all time was Maya Moore," said Knox.
Clark and the rest of her team will watch as number 23's jersey rises to the rafter during their game against the Lynx, As her legacy is celebrated throughout the weekend.
"There's only one Maya Moore," said Knox. "And there will never be another Maya Moore."
