Gopher Women beat Nebraska 62-58

The win improves Minnesota to 13-3 overall and 3-2 in Big Ten Play.

MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota sophomore guard Amaya Battle’s three-pointer with nine seconds left helped lift the Gophers (13-3) over Nebraska on Sunday, 62-58 the final.

Battle was one of three Gopher players in double figures with 11 points on Sunday afternoon. Janay Sanders also chipped in 11 points, while former Chaska standout Mallory Heyer led the way with a team-high 16 points.

Minnesota’s defense entered Sunday’s contest giving up the second fewest points per game in the Big Ten Conference, and the stellar play on that end of the floor continued on Sunday. The Gophers limited Nebraska to just 58 points, the second-fewest scored by the Cornhuskers in the all-time series with Minnesota.

The win improves Minnesota to 13-3 overall and 3-2 in Big Ten Play.

The Gophers play at Indiana on Wednesday.
