Gophers vs. Iowa will be televised on KARE

The game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Huntington Bank Stadium.

MINNEAPOLIS β€” The battle for Floyd of Rosedale will be aired on KARE 11.

The University of Minnesota football team announced its Sept. 21 showdown with Big Ten rival Iowa will be televised nationally on NBC as part of the conference's recent TV contract. The game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Huntington Bank Stadium.

The Gopher-Hawkeye rivalry dates back to the late 1800s when Iowa first hosted Minnesota in 1891. The two teams have played 117 times, with the Gophers leading the series 63-52-2. The Hawkeyes have had the upper-hand as of late, but the Gophers snapped an eight-game losing streak last October to reclaim Floyd of Rosedale β€” the bronze pig trophy that's awarded to the winner each over.

The Gophers are coming off a dominating 48-0 win over the Rhode Island Rams, a major bounce-back after their season-opening loss to North Carolina on Aug. 29. Iowa is also 1-1 and coming off a tough 20-19 loss to in-state rival Iowa State.

The Gophers also announced that it will be a Maroon Out on Sept. 21, meaning fans will be asked to wear maroon inside the stadium.
