MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Golden Gophers football team will head to Detroit for their bowl this year.

The club will face off against Bowling Green at Ford Field at 1 p.m. on Dec. 26.

The Gophers will look to continue their streak of success in bowl games under head coach P.J. Fleck, who sports a 4-0 record in postseason play. Minnesota is 11-12 overall in bowl play but has won its last six appearances, including last season’s 28-20 win over Syracuse in the Pinstripe Bowl.

The Golden Gophers will play in their third Quick Lane Bowl in the past 10 years.

Bowling Green finished third in the Mid-American Conference East with a 7-5 record and is making its second consecutive appearance in the Quick Lane Bowl.

The Gophers, who ended the season with a disappointing 5-7 record, will be without quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis after the former starting QB declared his intention to enter the transfer portal.

Eden Prairie native Cole Kramer is in line to start for the Gophers.
