MINNEAPOLIS — In the wake of being named a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Award, Minnesota safety Antoine Winfield Jr. is also in the hunt for another accolade.
The Walter Camp Football Foundation announced Thursday that Winfield Jr. is one of 20 players named to their "Players to Watch" list for their Player of the Year award.
Winfield Jr. has started all 10 games for the 11th-ranked Gophers, leading the team with 65 tackles and seven interceptions. His interceptions total leads the Big Ten and is tied for second in the nation.
The Gophers are on the road Saturday against Northwestern and then will return home to host Wisconsin, Nov. 30.
