EDINA, Minn - Nothing beats the summer heat in the Twin Cities like stepping into a refrigerated hockey arena. We are, after all, the State of Hockey.
For hockey players spending their offseason in Minnesota, getting together to channel the winter season on the ice at Braemar Arena in Edina is becoming a summer tradition.
Six teams of NHL’ers, collegiate, and other local hockey faces make up Da Beauty League. The summer pickup style 4-on-4 games dropped the first puck of its third season Wednesday night.
“You meet new people every year in this league,” said Woodbury native and current Pittsburgh Penguin Jake Guentzel. “You grew up playing against them, you play against them all year, so its good to see a different side of them.”
The games continue on Monday and Wednesday nights leading up to the championship game on August 22.
Eric Perkins had a chance to catch up with current Florida Panther (and Blaine native) Nick Bjugstad. Check out that interview in the video above.
