Saint John's tops Bethel for MIAC Championship

The Johnnies earn the MIAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs with the win.

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. — No. 3 ranked Saint John's (10-0) beat No. 24 Bethel (8-2) 41-33 on Saturday in Collegeville to win the MIAC Championship, their 37th MIAC title in program history.

The Johnnies earn the MIAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III playoffs with the win.

Senior quarterback Aaron Syverson led the way for the Johnnies, finishing with 419 yards and 5 touchdowns.

The five touchdown passes moved Syverson into a tie with former Johnnie All-American Jackson Erdmann '19 for the most career touchdown passes (139) in program and MIAC history.

Bethel quarterback Cooper Drews finished with 274 yards and 4 touchdowns in the loss.
