MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Gophers football team, after perhaps their biggest victory in more than 50 years, have moved up to No. 8 in the latest NCAA College Football Playoff rankings.
The Gophers, who are 9-0 for the first time since 1904, moved up nine spots following Saturday's 31-26 victory over then-fourth-ranked Penn State.
Minnesota also moved into the top 10 in both the Associated Press and Coaches' Poll — No. 7 in both.
The Gophers are the second highest-ranked team in the Big Ten, behind only Ohio State, which dropped to No. 2 as LSU supplanted the Buckeyes for the top spot.
Minnesota returns to action Saturday against Iowa, which fell two spots to No. 20 in the playoff rankings.
