EDINA, Minn. -- It was an ugly end to a very exciting sectional semifinal playoff game Saturday night between Benilde-St. Margarets and Eden Prairie.
In the closing seconds of the game, both teams were involved in a melee. It took nearly an hour after the teams left the ice for them to figure out all of the penalties.
In the end, Eden Prairie's wings Marc Sullivan, Riley Argetsinger and defenseman Louie Roehl all must sit out Wednesday's section final against Minnetonka. A combined 18 penalties were assessed to the eight players involved.
This wasn't the first brawl of the week. A fight broke out at the conclusion of the Bloomington Jefferson and Holy Angels Class 2A, Section 2 quarterfinal. However, no penalties were given out in the incident.
