PLYMOUTH, Minn. — On the heels of a two-game winning streak, some Minnesota Timberwolves players spent Thursday night as spectators.
According to D'Angelo Russell's Instagram account, the Wolves' star point guard took in the Section 6AAAA championship girls basketball game with a few of his teammates: Karl-Anthony Towns, James Johnson and Josh Okogie.
The game featured one of the top girls high school players in the country in senior guard Paige Bueckers, who helped lift Hopkins to a win Thursday over Wayzata and punched the Royals' ticket to the state tournament.
Bueckers and the Royals are undefeated this season (28-0) and are currently riding a 60-game winning streak. The state girls basketball tournament starts Wednesday, Mar. 11.
Bueckers, who has committed to play at the University of Connecticut, has also been selected to play in the McDonald's All-American game — a game both Towns and Russell played in back in 2014.
