ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Grab your blades, a bucket and a few buddies because the Minnesota Wild are hosting a local street hockey tournament next month as part of their inaugural Wild Fest.
The team announced the two-day competition as the centerpiece of Wild Fest — a hockey-themed event on Sept. 20-21 that will feature food, games and music.
The tournament, which will be held at the Rosedale Center in Roseville, will be broken up into separate divisions:
- Squirt (Ages 9-10)
- PeeWee (Ages 11-12)
- Bantam (Ages 13-14)
- High School (Ages 15-17)
- Adult (Ages 18+)
The tournament will be a 3-on-3, round-robin format to determine which teams are eligible for the playoffs. The games will be split into two 15-minute halves with a three-player shootout to decide any ties. There will also be a U9 division for kids under 9 that will be 4-on-4.
Players will be required to wear helmets, gloves and rollerblades. Each team will consist of seven player, including a goalie and will cost $349. Teams can add up to two additional players at a cost of $50 per person. Teams in the adult division can add up to three players at an additional cost.
