Kirk Cousins named NFC Offensive Player of the Week

Cousins landed the honor after leading the Vikings to the NFL's biggest-ever comeback win over the Colts in Week 15.

MINNEAPOLIS — Don't count out Kirk.

The Minnesota Vikings quarterback and shirtless chains-wearer earned himself the title of NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his valiant effort last Saturday against the Indianapolis Colts.

In case you forgot, though we're sure you haven't, the Vikings bounced back from a 33-0 deficit at halftime to beat the Colts 39-36, the largest comeback in NFL history and Minnesota's first win against Indianapolis since 1997.

"Great to win. Great to come back. I had no idea it was the largest in NFL history. Something like that doesn't happen to average people," Cousins said after the game. "It's great to get so many guys involved and have so many people contribute."

The cherry on top: The historic win clinched the NFC North for Minnesota for the first time since 2017.

It's the seventh time the 11-year NFL veteran has been named NFC Player of the Week, and his third time as a Viking.

In Week 15 Cousins completed a season-high 34 passes, passed for a career-high of 460 yards and tied a career-high four touchdown passes.

It's the eighth time in his career that Cousins has thrown for more than 400 yards in a game, and the fifth time as a Viking – the most in franchise history.
