MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Timberwolves announced Tuesday that their NBA All-Star center, Karl-Anthony Towns, suffered an injury that will sideline him "indefinitely."
Towns strained his calf during the third quarter of Monday's loss to the Washington Wizards.
Dr. Kelechi Okoroha, from the Mayo Clinic, says an MRI confirmed the lower leg injury.
Towns will be "sidelined indefinitely and reassessed in several weeks," according to a news release from the Timberwolves.
This season, Towns is averaging 20.8 points on 50.5% shooting, 8.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.
