A Shoreview native and University of Minnesota graduate has qualified for the Olympic climbing team, and will be competing next summer in Tokyo.
Kyra Condie will be one of two women representing the United States in the first-ever climbing competition at the Summer Games, according to our news partners at Minnesota Public Radio.
The climbing event will take place Aug. 4-7, 2020.
Condie's career almost didn't take off due to a 70-degree curvature in her back caused by severe idiopathic scoliosis when she was 13-year-old.
She went to a surgeon that was able to correct it, MPR reports.
