Twins shuffle roster again, Kirilloff optioned, Martin back in the bigs

Kirilloff had struggled at the plate in recent weeks, while Martin returns for his third stint with the MLB club.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Twins are making another roster move to shuffle the look of their dugout, sending first baseman/outfielder Alex Kirilloff to AAA St. Paul, while bringing back utility man Austin Martin to the big league club.

Kirilloff had struggled in recent weeks at the plate, collecting just one hit in 17 at-bats in his last seven games. His season average is down to .201, with five home runs, 20 RBI, 15 walks and 47 strikeouts.

Martin will return for his third stint with the Twins this season; he's hit .224 with one home run and six RBI in 30 games played for the Twins earlier this year. In his most recent stint with the St. Paul Saints, Martin was hitting .273 with one home run and just five strikeouts over 17 games. Like Kirilloff, Martin plays a mix of positions, primarily outfield and second base.
