MINNEAPOLIS — The holidays are the season for giving, and no one knows that better than the Minnesota Twins.

The team is launching its annual "Holiday Week of Giving" on Monday. Each day, Twins players, alumni, front office staff and corporate partners will volunteer at a variety of local nonprofits.

Here is what the week will entail:

Monday, Dec. 9

Twins alumni Bert Blyleven and the team's front office staff will volunteer at Bridging's warehouse in Bloomington to build dressers for families in need. The organization provides furniture and household goods to families in the Twin Cities who were recently homeless.

Tuesday, Dec. 10

If your child attends Northrop Elementary School, they might read a book with T.C. Bear on Tuesday. The mascot will be joined by Blyleven and the team's front office staff from 10-11:30 a.m.

The group will read with students, set up book displays and host a pizza party for educators.

Wednesday, Dec. 11

The Twins volunteers will serve meals and hand out gift bags to homeless veterans from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Target Field. MAC-V, the group putting on the event, provides veterans with medical care resources, meals and shelter programs.

Thursday, Dec. 12

A star-studded roster will be visiting Gillette Children's Thursday to bring holiday cheer to the children. Twins players Brooks Lee, Bailey Ober and alumni Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau will visit from 10 a.m. to noon.

The Twins and their partners will also volunteer throughout the week with Be The Change, The Giving Trees, NMDP Foundation and YouthLink.
