Twins officials made the move because of the expected traffic jam of sports fans with the Timberwolves playing just across the street.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Twins announced Monday that the start time for their Friday game against the Texas Rangers will be one hour earlier due to the Timberwolves Game 2 playoff game.

The Twins game was originally set for a 7:10 p.m. first pitch at Target Field but that was before NBA officials scheduled Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals between the Wolves and Dallas Mavericks across the street at Target Center.

The first pitch for that Rangers' game is now 6:10 p.m. with the Target Field gates opening at 4:30 p.m. for fans on Friday.

"Moving first pitch time up by one hour was done to help accommodate ingress and egress to downtown Minneapolis throughout what is expected to be a busy evening," according to a Twins news release.

The Timberwolves will tip off against the Mavs at 7:30 p.m. that night at Target Center.

Friday is also Star Wars Night for Twins fans. The first 5,000 fans will get a free "Light or Dark Side" reversible bucket hat.
