Catch the Twins on Saturday in prime time

Originally, the Twins were scheduled to play the Baltimore Orioles at 1:10 p.m. but the folks at FOX Sports decided to broadcast the game nationally.

MINNEAPOLIS — As the Minnesota Twins fight for the playoffs their game on Saturday, Sept. 28 will get the national spotlight and move to prime time.

Originally, the Twins were scheduled to play the Baltimore Orioles at 1:10 p.m. but the folks at FOX Sports decided to make it a showcase game. The first pitch is now set for 6:15 p.m. CT.

On Sunday, the Twins were swept by the Boston Red Sox in a doubleheader at Fenway Park while the Detroit Tigers beat the Baltimore Orioles 4-3 to move into the final wild-card spot in the American League playoff race.

Currently, the Tigers (82-74) hold a one-game lead over the Twins (81-75) with just six games to play in the season. The Twins are also one game behind the Kansas City Royals (82-74), who are tied with the Tigers. The Seattle Mariners (80-76) are also in the race being just a game behind the Twins.

Twins officials are also reminding fans that Saturday night's game the first 10,000 fans will receive a Fan Appreciation Baseball Hat as part of Fan Appreciation Weekend festivities. It's also Irish Heritage Night, with a special ticket package available that includes a ticket to the game and an Irish Night Twins hat. The Target Field gates will open at 4:00 p.m.
