Twins unveil blue and yellow City Connect uniforms

The players will wear the new Nike gear for the first time at Friday night's game against the Oakland Athletics.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Twins became the final major league team to debut their initial City Connect uniforms on Monday. City Connect uniforms were created by Nike in 2021 as alternate uniforms for Major League Baseball (MLB) teams.

The new Nike gear pays homage to the 10,000 lakes with "the blues of our state's water" and "yellow accents shine like a ray of Minnesota sunlight," according to the Twins news release.

The Twins will wear the City Connect uniforms for the first time at Friday night's game against the Oakland Athletics.

Monday's unveiling coincided with a day-long celebration of the new design and concept dubbed the "Ripple Effect."

The day featured live art, music, free food, and the Twins mascot T.C. -- all ahead of Monday night's game of the Twins vs. the Colorado Rockies.

Some of the highlights of the new blue-and-yellow uniforms and caps are what's not seen. "Minnesota" and Twins" are not sewn on anywhere.

Instead, the front of the jersey features "MN" with the North Star between the white letters and a patch of the state bird (an artistic loon) on the shoulder. The pants feature yellow belts and piping.

The caps have Minnesota's outline with northern lights, waves and a North Star placed on the location of the Twin Cities. It also has "10,000 Lakes" on the hat's side and Lake Minnetonka's outline under the bill.

Twins' players will wear the new uniforms for every remaining Friday home game along with the additional Saturday home games (June 15, July 6 and July 20.)

The Twins online shop's trending gear section lists a "Men's Minnesota Twins Nike Royal 2024 City Connect Limited Jersey" at $154.99 and the fitted cap at $45.99.
