MINNEAPOLIS — Carlos Correa will have some company at next week's MLB All-Star Game.

Days after the Minnesota Twins' star shortstop was named to the American League All-Star roster, teammate Willi Castro was selected to replace Houston's José Altuve, who is dealing with soreness in his left hand. The Twins posted a video on social media of manager Rocco Baldelli informing Castro that he's an All-Star.

"I won't wake you up for too many things, but one thing I will wake you up for is to let you know that you've made the All-Star team," said Baldelli in the video. "... I couldn't be happier for you."

It's the first time Castro, 27, has been selected to an All-Star roster.

"It's a dream come true," said Castro, who joined the Twins in December of 2022 on a minor-league deal.

This season, Castro is batting .268 with seven home runs, 29 RBI and 10 stolen bases. In the field, he's played just about everywhere. According to MLB.com, Castro has played second base, left field, shortstop, third base and center field. He's even pitched 1⅓ innings this season.

"You've been incredible. Absolutely incredible," Baldelli told the All-Star utility player in the video. "You deserve this as much as anyone in the world."

The All-Star Game will be played Tuesday, July 16 in Arlington, Texas.
