MINNEAPOLIS — The Home Opener is one of Major League Baseball's most enduring traditions, a day when hope springs eternal for fans thinking their favorite club can make it to the World Series, and teams put their best foot forward as a new season launches.
On Tuesday, the Twins shared their plans for the 2024 Home Opener with both time-honored traditions and new wrinkles to maximize the experience. The day starts with drive-thru breakfast on the plaza, where fans are invited to drive, bike or walk down 7th Street between 6 and 9 a.m. to grab a hot cup of joe and ballpark-inspired breakfast items. Those showing up will have a chance to win tickets to the Home Opener and Opening Weekend games.
Here are some other notable Opening Day activities.
Open the Gates: Twins legends Tony Oliva, Kent Hrbek, Justin Morneau, Tom Kelly and Dan Gladden are among those who will greet fans as the gates to Target Field open at 1 p.m.
Twins Beanie Giveaway: The first 10,000 fans will receive a Twins beanie both April 4 and April 6, courtesy of Your Northland Ford Dealers.
40 years of Dick Bremer: The Twins will celebrate the longtime T.V. broadcaster, who stepped away from the mic following the 2023 season. Bremer will also throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Honoring First Responders: The Twins will recognize and celebrate police officers, deputies and firefighters from Burnsville and Dakota County with a special tribute to the three first responders who died in a February shootout.
Pre-game Flyover: A C-130 Hercules from the Minnesota National Guard's 133rd Airlift Wing will thunder over Target Field before the Twins take on the Cleveland Guardians. First pitch is set for 3:10 p.m.
Tickets for the Home Opener and Opening Weekend are still available. You can find them, and additional information on the opener, on the Twins' website.
