MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Timberwolves will open their postseason run with a matinee Saturday in Minneapolis.
The league announced the start times for Saturday's games with the Wolves hosting the Phoenix Suns at 2:30 p.m. Minnesota, which has lost all three games against the Suns this season, fell to the No. 3 seed following a loss to Phoenix in its regular-season finale.
The other games slated for Saturday are a noon tip-off between the Orlando Magic and the Cleveland Cavaliers, a 5 p.m. showdown between the New York Knicks and the No. 7 seed, followed by a 7:30 p.m. tilt between the L.A. Lakers and the Denver Nuggets.
The Wolves, who have lost two of their last three games, haven't beaten the Suns since Jan. 13, 2023. Karl-Anthony Towns has returned to the lineup, but superstar Anthony Edwards will almost certainly need to show up for Minnesota to escape the first round this year.
Edwards, who is averaging a career-high 25.9 points per game, 5.1 assists and 5.4 rebounds, hasn't scored more than 17 points in a game against the Suns this season, so getting their All-Star into a rhythm could be a top priority for the Wolves.
