EAGAN, Minn. — Just one day ahead of the Vikings first preseason game of the year, the team has decided to shake up its secondary.
The team is sending third-year cover man Andrew Booth Jr. to the Cowboys in exchange for CB Nashon Wright, the team announced.
Booth Jr. was a highly touted second-round draft pick for the Vikings in the inaugural draft of the Kevin O'Connell/ Kwesi Adofo-Mensah front office back in 2022.
The 6-foot 194-pound corner enjoyed a successful collegiate career at Clemson from 2019 to 2022, totaling 14 pass deflections and five interceptions before the Vikings added him to the roster.
A combination of injuries significantly limited his impact as a rookie, but the corner only managed a single start in his second season with the team despite playing in all 17 games.
In return for Booth, the Vikings are adding 6-4, 195-pound corner Nashon Wright.
Wright has totaled five pass deflections and a lone interception in the NFL since being drafted by the Cowboys in the third-round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
The Vikings secondary has been reeling since rookie cornerback Khyree Jackson was tragically killed in a car accident in July.
The team also lost corner Mekhi Blackmon for the season with an ACL injury in July. The team has since resigned former corner Duke Shelley, added CB Bobby McCain and signed CB Jacobi Francis.
